Born in upstate New York, Joel was raised and schooled in the motor city of Detroit. A radio and television major at the University of Miami, Joel began his career in Miami and West Palm Beach, Florida before coming north n 1960 to Hartford and Boston. A sports nut, Joel follows the team of his youth, the Detroit Tigers, and plays golf when his schedule, wife, and two children will make room. Recently he became a model railroader and HO gauge is consuming his spare room as well as spare time.  Joel served in the Army from 1955-57 attaining the rank of corporal.
